In the year 2000, our Contracts Manager, Jonathan (Joni) Reeves, started working for a friend’s carpet shop as a way to make ends meet. As an 18-year-old man, flooring had never been anything more than something to walk on for him, but that soon changed! This new world of colour, texture and style was all new to him, and it appealed to his artistic nature. It sparked the realisation that a floor is not just a surface, but a canvas, and with a little care, it can change the look, feel and experience of any space. He was hooked.

But selling floors wasn’t enough. He wanted to get his hands dirty. After spending a large portion of his youth building ramps and other ‘toys’ for his beloved roller blades, he’d developed a unique ability: his hands could create what his mind could see. This skill, coupled with his newfound interest in transforming spaces, led to the natural progression from selling to installing flooring. In doing so, his passion was ignited, and it burns stronger year on year.

For the following 16 years, Joni took every opportunity he could to further his knowledge and master his skills. He developed the reputation within the industry as the “go-to guy” for difficult floors. He achieved what other installers claimed to be impossible, and doing what others couldn’t became his forte. From his constant need to better himself and do better for his clients, he achieved a loyal following who have stayed with him to this day.

In 2016, Joni met Jade, our founder, and they became a couple. Jade has a passion for interior design, and is highly skilled in leadership and direction. Together, the duo combined industry knowledge and skillset with the necessary business nous to create the recipe for success. In 2018, The Floor Design Studio was formed.

The Floor Design Studio has one clear goal: to install flooring to a standard which exceeds the normal requirements. With a wealth of technical industry knowledge, we are rivalled by few, and are trusted by our clients (both commercial and domestic) to provide craftsmanship above and beyond their expectations.

We do not use subcontractors – all our installers are trained to Joni’s impeccable standards, with an extensive training schedule that only starts upon completion of the industry-standard apprenticeship. The standard by which most installers are classed as ‘fully trained’ is merely the starting point for The Floor Design Studio’s installation team.
